Why supply-chain management?
The goal of supply chain management is a long-term (strategic) and short-term (operative) improvement of effectiveness and efficiency in the entire supply chain. The basis for successful supply chain management solutions is the integration of all concerned parties, ranging from the end-customer all the way to the manufacturer.
Short information flows
When insufficient information on requirements is available in the supply chain, then strong fluctuations in order volume will occur, despite a relatively stable demand. The uncertainty of the supply chain partners leads to an increase in the corresponding reserve stocks, which provide security in case of demand fluctuations. This leads to increasing costs of capital commitment among the supply chain partners, as well as an inefficient utilisation of resources.

Increasing the value of the company
Only an optimisation of the entire supplying chain provides opportunities for cost reductions. Instead of transferring costs, the focus on core competencies and efficiency leads to substantial savings.
