OMAP3530 - Integrates the ARM Cortex-A8 core, DSP, graphics engine, DaVinci technology and a rich peripheral set in a single chip. With the OMAP3530, OEMs will be able to deliver high-performance, power-efficient productivity and entertainment applications to users. (Sampling 2H08) |
OMAP35x applications processors are the first to be based on the ARM® Cortex™-A8 core. With more than four times the processing power of today’s ARM9 devices, the Cortex-A8 delivers 1200 Dhrystone MIPS performance allowing developers to run operating systems, such as Windows® CE and Linux, as well as delivering faster boot times, web browsing and compelling Java applications. An integrated Java accelerator inside the Cortex-A8 allows real laptop web browsing performance in a handheld device. In addition, enhanced multimedia capabilities offer SD quality video.
The OMAP35x applications processors enable a whole new realm of smart devices with better user interfaces and portable devices with sleeker form factors and longer battery life.
By delivering laptop-like performance at handheld power levels in a single chip, the OMAP35x processors will be at the heart of these new devices, including applications like:
> Portable navigation devices
>
Advanced portable consumer electronics
> Portable data collection
> Point-of-Sale devices
> Medical
> Web tablets
> Smart white goods
> Smart home controllers
>
Security
> Low-cost PC
And many new markets yet to be defined.
The OMAP35x applications processors save power by leveraging TI’s SmartReflex technologies to dynamically control voltage, frequency, and power based on device activity, modes of operation, process technology, and temperature variation. With SmartReflex technology, devices can take on new and exciting forms that are thinner and lighter and can be more easily integrated into existing commercial or consumer product designs.
